Marine Algae
The MNHC houses approximately 3,000 marine algae specimens which were collected from sites all along the Pacific Coast. The first set of collecting occurred during the late 1960s and the 1970s, and the same sites were revisited during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The museum is currently working with researchers at UC Berkeley to fully database the marine algae collection and publish a comparison study between the two time periods.
